Morris Hospital YMCA Set to Host 2025 Cornfest Pickleball Tournament

Calling all pickleball enthusiasts and competitors! Join the Y for an exhilarating day of skill, strategy, and good old fashioned fun at the 2025 Corn Fest Pickleball Tournament. Mark your calendars and get ready to serve, volley, and smash your way to victory!

Time: Check-in begins at 8 a.m., games begin at 9 a.m.

ADULT TOURNAMENT
Ages 18 and up, teams must be co-ed

Format: Double elimination tournament. Pick your partner or register as an individual and be paired with another player. Each player will receive an official tourney t-shirt. Each member of the winning team will receive a trophy and a $25 gift card.

Golf and Dinner Tickets for the 2025 YMCA Mission Strong Golf Classic Now on Sale

Foursomes and dinner tickets for the 2025 Mission Strong Golf Classic, generously presented by Midland States Bank, are now on sale!

Join us on Wednesday, September 17 at ‘The Creek’ at Morris Country Club for an exciting day that will include:

18 holes of golf with a cart
Lunch and complimentary beverages on the course
A cocktail reception, dinner and awards
A welcome gift, course games, prizes, raffles, and more

Proceeds from this event will benefit the YMCA Mission Strong Fund, which helps to ensure nobody is turned away from the Y due to the inability to pay.

Now in its fourth year, the Mission Strong Golf Classic has raised more than $200,000 to support children, adults, and families in our community. Let’s keep the momentum going in 2025!

YMCA before and after school care programs provide a safe place for children to keep their mind and body active while learning social skills and positive values.

Our before and after school team is dedicated to the Y’s mission and works tirelessly to meet the needs of the communities we serve. This group of talented and energetic staff is second to none, and we are now currently looking to hire new part-time employees to expand our team!

The Y is here to help our members get the most out of their summer and, with the calendar featuring five Wednesdays in the month of July, the Y is offering a special bonus for My Y Rewards program participants.

Greater Joliet Area YMCA Facility Members, ages 16 and up, enrolled in the My Y Rewards program will receive triple rewards points every time they check in at the Y on Wednesdays in the month of July.

JETS Swim Team Set to Begin Practices at the Morris Hospital YMCA in September

One of the area’s most historic youth swimming clubs, the JETS Swim Team is a year-round competitive swim program that offers instruction and training for swimmers ages 6-17.

The JETS support the YMCA’s mission of building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities, and our professional team of coaches strive to not only build strong swimmers but caring, honest, respectful, and responsible children and young adults. Swimmers learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and goal-setting while developing their competitive swimming skills.

We are excited to announce that the JETS will begin training at the new Morris Hospital YMCA beginning this fall!

If your child is interested in joining the JETS, we invite you to participate in one of our upcoming swim clinics, which provide opportunities for swimmers to meet some of the coaches and learn new swim skills. Throughout each clinic, coaches will be evaluating swimmers to determine if they meet criteria to be placed on the team.

Morris Hospital YMCA Set to Offer Special One-Day Fitness Clinics in July

The Morris Hospital YMCA is excited to offer special one-day fitness clinics throughout the month of July. These FREE clinics will give participants, ages 16 and up, a chance to explore new exercise options that will help them reach their health and wellness goals.

All clinics are open to YMCA Facility Members only. Instructor Maureen Keegan will lead all clinics. See below for more details.

TRX
Date: Friday, July 11
Times: 7-7:45 a.m. and 8-8:45 a.m.
This tutorial will give you the tools to feel comfortable using TRX straps to safely and effectively exercise all body parts.

HOW TO BUILD A CIRCUIT
Dates: Friday, July 18
Times: 7-7:45 a.m. and 8-8:45 a.m.
This informational class will help you learn new exercises, choose a workout regime that aligns with your goals and current fitness levels, and incorporate it all to a circuit workout you can do on your own on your time.

BEGINNER CYCLE
Date: Friday, July 25
Times: 7-7:20 a.m., 7:30-7:50 a.m., 8-8:20 a.m.
This clinic will teach you how to set up your spin bike for a group cycle class with an explanation of how the console on the bike works. Participants will receive 10-15 minutes of instruction and get a chance to demo a five-minute ride.
