Updated Kids Corner and Activity Center Hours at the Village of Shorewood YMCA

Healthy parents are happy parents and the Village of Shorewood YMCA offers free drop-in child care for up to two hours (per day, per child) while you make time for yourself to get fit. We are excited to announce our Kids Corner Playroom will have Friday evening hours beginning June 5. You can view full hours below:

Kids Corner Supervised Playroom Hours (Open to ages 6 months-7 years old)*
Monday-Thursday: 8:45 a.m.-Noon, 4-8 p.m.
Friday: 8:45 a.m.-Noon, 4-7 p.m. (Beginning June 5)
Saturday: 8 a.m.-Noon

*Available to Facility Members only. For safety and security reasons, we ask that members present a membership card for themselves and their child(ren) when they are checking into Kids Corner. No reservations are required.

We are also excited to announce special summer hours for our Supervised Activity Center. The following hours will begin June 1 and continue through August 19:

Activity Center Hours (Open to ages 7 years old and up)
Monday-Thursday: 8:45 a.m.-Noon, 4-8 p.m.
Friday: 8:45 a.m.-Noon, 4-7 p.m.

Summer Fun Starts at the Y: Friendly Reminders for YMCA Facility Members

We know that the start of summer is an exciting time at the Y. To help our members make the most of their Y experience, here are a few friendly reminders :

Swim Lessons
YMCA summer session programs begin on June 1 and Early Bird pricing for Summer 1 swim lessons is available through Tuesday, May 26. Be sure to register before the Early Bird deadline to SAVE!

Facility Schedules
Members can find up to date facility schedules using the YMCA On the Go App or by clicking here.

Locks and Locker Usage
Lockers are available for daily use and YMCA members and guests are encouraged to bring locks to secure their belongings while visiting the Y. Items may not be stored in lockers overnight. Locks may be purchased at the Membership Desk.

Parking Lot Traffic
Please note that Summer Day Camp activities will begin across YMCA branches throughout the next week. All Y visitors should be aware of increased traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. We encourage members and guests to use caution and slow speeds at all times when navigating parking lots.

Village of Shorewood YMCA Welcomes Community with Ribbon Cutting and Open House

The Village of Shorewood YMCA was proud to welcome the community to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House on Saturday, May 2.

Greater Joliet Area YMCA President and CEO Katy Leclair said that the event was the perfect way to continue the association’s Centennial Celebration.

“As we celebrate our 100th anniversary throughout 2026, we are committed to creating welcoming and inviting spaces to deliver on our mission and to meet the ever-changing needs of our community. And, as we embark on our second century of service, we are so excited to begin writing our next chapter here in Shorewood,” Leclair said.

The new YMCA facility, which was made possible thanks to an incredible partnership with the Village of Shorewood, has now eclipsed more than 6,200 members since opening its doors on April 27.

“We are so very grateful to Shorewood Mayor CC DeBold and the Village Board of Trustees for their partnership,” Leclair said. “We are also thankful for the support and leadership of the YMCA Board of Directors and Advisory Council members, as well as the dedicated staff and volunteers who greet everyone who walks through our doors with a smile and a kind word. Visitors always know that the Y is a place where they truly belong, and where they will be supported and celebrated every step along the way.”

At the conclusion of the Ribbon Cutting, the YMCA hosted a Community Open House from 1-4 p.m., which featured a wide range of activities, including facility tours, program demonstrations, group exercise classes, face painting, and arts and crafts. The 967 was also onsite broadcasting live throughout the event.

Open House attendees also had the chance to participate in special raffles and giveaways, and pick up a commemorative grand opening t-shirt.

Guests under 18 must have a valid Daily Visitor Membership and Facility Usage Waiver signed by a parent or guardian on file prior to visiting the Y. To create a Daily Visitor Membership, please click here.
