    During the summer, the Morris YMCA offers a wide range of one-week sports camps at locations throughout the Morris community. Open to children in grades K-8, each camp is taught by local coaches and experts with years of experience.

    Upcoming Camps Include:

    • Wrestling Camp with Coach Matt Seidel: June 26-29
    • Flag Football Camp with Coach Jeff Edwards: June 27-30
    • Baseball Camp with former Cub Billy Petrick: July 10-13

  • Summer Fitness Opportunities

    Because we know that healthy lifestyles are best achieved by nurturing our mind, body and spirit, well-being and fitness at the Y is so much more than just working out. Beyond fitness facilities, we provide educational programs to promote healthier decisions and provide the support you need to achieve your goals one workout at a time.

    Complimentary Fitness Consultations
    Facility Members are encouraged to meet with a member of our fitness staff for a free one-hour fitness consultation. During this session, our staff will help you to identify your health and wellness goals, provide you with a fitness evaluation, an orientation in our Wellness Center, and provide you with an overview of our group exercise and personal training programs.

    Free to Facility Members, Fitness Consultations can be scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer from 10-11 a.m. and between 4-6 p.m.

    Teen Wellness Center Certifications
    Required for teens who wish to have access to our Wellness Center, this class is designed to provide youth, ages 13-15, with a comprehensive and informative training so they can properly utilize strength and cardio equipment. Participants will be required to pass a written and practical test the day of the course to receive certification.

    Wellness Center Certifications can be scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer from 10-11 a.m. and between 4-6 p.m

  • Before and After School Kid Zone

    Registration Now Underway

    In the YMCA’s Before and After School program, kids participate in physical, learning and imaginative activities that encourage them to explore who they are and what they can achieve. Kids have fun, make new friends and create memories that last a lifetime.

    Program Hours:

    Monday through Friday, on school days
    Before School: 7-9 a.m.
    After School: 3-6 p.m.

    Program hours coordinate with your district’s school day.

  • College Readiness Programs Debuting This Summer

    We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around the nation are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, teens learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for con dent teens today and contributing and engaged young adults tomorrow.

    Area high school students are invited to join the YMCA for a number of College Readiness Programs this summer, including:

    • College tours to institutions such as Illinois State University and Loyola University Chicago
    • A lunch & learn session that includes a keynote address, informational and interactive breakout sessions and a panel discussion by community leaders and representatives
    • A comprehensive workshop about workplace success, building your brand and preparing for interviews

  • Fitness Fun Under the Sun

    Outdoor Exercise Classes

    Get moving this summer by attending your favorite YMCA group exercise class OUTSIDE! New this summer to the Greater Joliet Area YMCA, Fitness Fun Under the Sun group exercise classes will be offered weekly at locations in Joliet, Plainfield and Morris. This is a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy the summer weather without having to skip your workout.

    Hip-Hop Fitness @ Goold Park in Morris
    Wednesdays at 10 a.m., from June 7-August 9

    Hip-Hop Fitness is a dance fitness class designed to get you moving to popular music and movements. Be prepared to sweat and get fit the fun way. Anyone can do it!

    Zumba @ Ira Jones in Plainfield
    Thursdays at 9:15 a.m., from June 8-August 10

    A YMCA favorite, this super fun choreographed dance fitness class fuses Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic fitness experience.

    Stretch & Tone @ First Assembly of God Church in Joliet
    Select Sundays at 7 a.m.: June 11, 25; July 2, 30; August 6, 13

    Open to all levels of exercisers, this low-impact class focuses on improving flexibility and balance and reducing stress.

    All classes are free and open to the community.
    Participants must be 12 years of age or older. No registration is required. In cases of inclement weather, classes will be canceled. Please contact your local branch or check the Y’s Facebook page for cancellation announcements.
