  • Greater Joliet Area YMCA Named Top Workplace in Will County


    The Greater Joliet Area YMCA was selected as a Top Workplace in Will County by the Joliet Herald-News. In a poll voted on by readers of the Herald-News, the Y was the top vote-getter in the Non-Profit Organization category.

    Stacy Broske of the Herald-News presented the award Monday, September 17, at the Greater Joliet Area YMCA Metropolitan Offices, located at 749 Houbolt Road. President and CEO James Watts was joined by Senior Vice President and COO Katy Leclair and Human Resources Director Adriana Garcia to accept the award on behalf of the Y.   • New Program Alert: Futsal

    Open to Grades 1-6

    Futsal is a soccer-like sport that’s played indoors, only with a smaller ball. Open to grades 1-6, this introductory program is great for both new players and soccer players who want to improve their footwork during the offseason.

    JOIN US
    Led by Morris High School Soccer Coach David Valdivia, the YMCA’s new Futsal program will meet twice a week. On Monday evenings, Valdivia will lead players through a skill-focused clinic. Saturdays will be gameplay-focused, giving players a chance to use their skills during scrimmages.

    Dates: October 22-December 1

    Monday Evenings – Skills

    • Grades 1-3: 6-7 p.m.
    • Grades 4-6: 7-8 p.m.

    Saturday Mornings – Scrimmages

    • 8 a.m.-Noon
