Opening day for the Village of Shorewood YMCA is on Monday, April 27 and we are so excited to share spring schedules for the lap pool, gymnasium, and group fitness classes! Click below for more details.

Helping You Live Better: C.W. Avery Family YMCA Invites Community to Running Injury Prevention Seminar

Are you tired of nagging aches holding you back when you run? Learn how to keep your miles pain-free during this special injury prevention seminar!

Endeavor Health Physical Therapist and board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Erik Martinez will dive into practical injury prevention exercises that target movements often neglected in typical strength training programs, but are important for running stability.

Prior to the presentation, all attendees are invited to join DNA Run Club for their community run at 6:30 p.m. All skill levels are welcome.

About the Presenter:

Erik Martinez is a PT and board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist with Endeavor Health. He has 15 years of experience working with runners of all ages and is an avid runner himself. He is passionate about making clients lifelong athletes through consistency and injury prevention.

Swim, Bike, Run: YMCA ‘Lazyman’ Triathlon Health and Wellness Challenge

March 9-April 20

The Y wants to help members get energized this spring with our ‘Lazyman’ Triathlon Challenge!

Tracking workouts at your own pace, you will have six weeks to accumulate the traditional distances of an Ironman triathlon:

  • 2.4 mile swim (170 lengths of the pool)
  • 112 mile bike ride
  • 26.2 mile run/walk

Beginning Monday, March 9, participants can pick up a tracking sheet from the Membership Desk. Completed sheets must be turned in by April 20. At the end of the challenge, all participants will be entered into a raffle and one lucky winner from each Y branch will receive a special prize!

Cost: $5, open to Facility Members only
