  • Summer Spruce Up

    August 12-27

Each summer, we take time to thoroughly clean and enhance our facilities so that our members can have an enjoyable experience throughout the year. During this time, certain areas of our facilities will be temporarily closed.

During Summer Spruce Up, our members are welcome to use any of our four facilities. When visiting any branch during Summer Spruce Up, please remember to bring your Membership Card. We very much appreciate your continued patience as we work to spruce up your Y!

    Closure Schedule

Lap Pool: Closing at 5 p.m. on August 12 and reopening on August 28. Repairs will be completed and the pool will be drained and receive a deep cleaning. Existing pool lights will also be replaced with energy-efficient LED lighting.

Locker Rooms: Locker Rooms will be closed intermittently during Spruce Up to allow ample time for deep cleaning. Closings will be posted in the building and on our Facebook page.

Supervised Playroom/Kid Zone Room: The Supervised Playroom/Kid Zone Room will be treated to a deep cleaning. All toys will also be sanitized.

Additional Improvements: In addition to the improvements listed above, all areas of the building will be treated to a deep cleaning.

  • New Swim Lesson Curriculum Debuting This Fall

This fall, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA will be introducing a fresh, new swim lesson curriculum, designed to enhance its tradition of keeping the community safe and secure around the water and instilling a healthy lifestyle.

Created by the YMCA of the USA and tested extensively by Y’s across the nation, this new curriculum accommodates varying abilities to help foster a sense of achievement as swimmers progress between clearly defined stages.

Through this approach, advanced swimmers flow more easily to higher levels while swimmers who need more instruction can learn at their own pace. This approach results in more confident swimmers and a newfound admiration for swimming that can last a lifetime.
