Morris Hospital YMCA Set to Offer Special One-Day Fitness Clinics in July

The Morris Hospital YMCA is excited to offer special one-day fitness clinics throughout the month of July. These FREE clinics will give participants, ages 16 and up, a chance to explore new exercise options that will help them reach their health and wellness goals.

All clinics are open to YMCA Facility Members only. Instructor Maureen Keegan will lead all clinics. See below for more details.

TRX
Date: Friday, July 11
Times: 7-7:45 a.m. and 8-8:45 a.m.
This tutorial will give you the tools to feel comfortable using TRX straps to safely and effectively exercise all body parts.

HOW TO BUILD A CIRCUIT

This informational class will help you learn new exercises, choose a workout regime that aligns with your goals and current fitness levels, and incorporate it all to a circuit workout you can do on your own on your time.

BEGINNER CYCLE
Date: Friday, July 25
Times: 7-7:20 a.m., 7:30-7:50 a.m., 8-8:20 a.m.
This clinic will teach you how to set up your spin bike for a group cycle class with an explanation of how the console on the bike works. Participants will receive 10-15 minutes of instruction and get a chance to demo a five-minute ride.

Join us for a day at the ballpark! First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. Gates open one hour prior to the game’s start. Family members are also welcomed to join in the fun. A ticket must be purchased for every person in attendance. Transportation will not be provided.

Land & Water Cruise – Starved Rock Lodge

Michael St. Angel will be at Starved Rock Lodge as ‘The King of Rock and Roll’ takes the stage. You can rock to the hits that made Elvis famous and Michael will also be featuring many of the gospel hits that started Elvis’ career. Keep the spirit of Rockin’ and Rollin’ alive! Lunch and transportation included. Departure will be from the C.W. Avery Family YMCA.

Four Tips on Finding Fulfillment During Older Americans Month

May is Older Americans Month. Established in 1963, Older Americans Month is dedicated to acknowledging the contributions and achievements of older Americans, while sharing the importance of finding fulfillment in the aging process. In honor of this month, here are a few tips from the Administration for Community Living on how to find fulfillment by paving our own paths as we age. 

1. Embrace the opportunity to change. Find a new passion, go on an adventure and push boundaries by not letting age define your limits. Invite creativity and purpose into your life by trying new activities in your community to bring in more growth, joy and energy.

2. Explore the rewards of growing older. With age comes knowledge, which provides insight and confidence to understand and experience the world more deeply. Continue to grow that knowledge through reading, listening, classes and creative activities.

Morris Hospital YMCA Offering Spring Programs for Homeschool Families

The Morris Hospital YMCA is excited to offer health, wellness, and arts programs for homeschool families this spring! These five-week programs are open to kids in Grades K-8.

Spring 1 Classes: March 10-April 20 (No classes held the week of March 24 during spring break.)
Spring 2 Classes: April 21-May 25

HOMESCHOOL SWIM
Enjoy an hour of swim time, split between 30 minutes of lessons and 30 minutes of open swim!
