YMCA To Host Be The Good Gala on October 12, 2019

The Greater Joliet Area YMCA will be hosting a black-tie fundraising event in fall 2019. The BE THE GOOD Gala will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the Bolingbrook Golf Club.

This elegant evening will celebrate charitable giving at the YMCA by showcasing the Y’s impact in our community and the generous donors who make the mission come to life each and every day. Funds raised from this event will benefit the Y’s scholarship assistance program, which helps to ensure that no one is turned away from the YMCA due to the inability to pay.

Greater Joliet Area YMCA Named 2018 Top Workplace by Chicago Tribune

The Greater Joliet Area YMCA has been awarded a 2018 Top Workplaces honor by the Chicago Tribune. A three-time Top Workplace honoree, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA has been serving families in Will, Grundy and Kendall Counties for 90 years.

The Top Workplaces list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by Energage, LLC (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.

Holiday Weight Maintenance Challenge Starting November 12

Our 8-week Holiday Weight Maintenance Challenge will help you get in shape and keep the weight off during the holiday season.

We have a great plan to help you adopt healthy eating and exercise habits while saying ‘No’ to those tempting holiday cravings.

Are you up for the challenge?
If you can maintain your weight within 2 pounds for 8 weeks (November 12-January 6), you will receive a $20 YMCA credit that can be used towards any fitness program, including personal training. If you gain more than 2 pounds during this eight-week challenge, your fee will be donated in your name to the Y’s Annual Campaign.

As part of this fun-filled Holiday Weight Maintenance Challenge, you will receive:

  • A one-of-a-kind YMCA Holiday Weight Maintenance Challenge T-shirt
  • Three weigh-ins: Weeks 1 and 8 (mandatory) and Week 4 (optional)
  • Weekly emails with workout tips, healthy holiday recipes and special fitness challenges, designed specifically for challenge participants

Let’s have a little fun this holiday season. Together, we will help you celebrate the holiday season happy and healthy!

Greater Joliet Area YMCA Named Top Workplace in Will County


The Greater Joliet Area YMCA was selected as a Top Workplace in Will County by the Joliet Herald-News. In a poll voted on by readers of the Herald-News, the Y was the top vote-getter in the Non-Profit Organization category.

Stacy Broske of the Herald-News presented the award Monday, September 17, at the Greater Joliet Area YMCA Metropolitan Offices, located at 749 Houbolt Road. President and CEO James Watts was joined by Senior Vice President and COO Katy Leclair and Human Resources Director Adriana Garcia to accept the award on behalf of the Y. Before and After School Kid Zone

Registration Now Underway

In the YMCA’s Before and After School program, kids participate in physical, learning and imaginative activities that encourage them to explore who they are and what they can achieve. Kids have fun, make new friends and create memories that last a lifetime.

Program Hours:

Monday through Friday, on school days
Before School: 7-9 a.m.
After School: 3-6 p.m.

11th Annual Giving Gala Raises Nearly $140,000 in Scholarship Funds

The Greater Joliet Area YMCA raised nearly $140,000 in scholarship funds at the 11th annual Giving Gala held Feb. 24 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. The event included dinner, auction and live entertainment for 365 guests.

The Greater Joliet Area YMCA has been serving families, regardless of age, income or background, from throughout Will County and its surrounding areas for 90 years. Since its inception, the Giving Gala has raised more than $875,000 to benefit families within those communities, helping to ensure that no one is turned away from the Y due to the inability to pay.
