Programs with a Purpose

Greater Joliet Area YMCA Youth Sports programs maximize the positive effects of athletics by emphasizing healthy competition and promoting teamwork. The Y focuses on the life lessons that can be learned from sports, and our coaches strive to instill a positive self-image in each player.

We are so proud to offer NFL FLAG football leagues at branches throughout Will and Grundy Counties. NFL FLAG is the largest flag football league in the U.S., and the only league where players can wear official NFL gear. Kids of all ages and skill levels will participate in a safe, non-contact environment, allowing boys and girls the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football. In this program everyone plays, and everyone has fun!

C.W. AVERY FAMILY YMCA

Fall 2026 League Dates: August 11-October 31

Coed Divisions: 
Ages 4-6
Ages 7-9
Ages 10-12
Ages 13-14

Practices will be held at the C.W. Avery Family YMCA once a week on weeknights beginning the week of August 17.

Games will be played at the C.W. Avery Family YMCA primarily on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings but teams may have occasional weeknight games. Games begin the week of September 7. All teams will play at least 8 games.

PLEASE NOTE: The 10-12 and 13-14 year old divisions will also play games against Joliet Community YMCA, Village of Shorewood YMCA, and Morris Hospital YMCA teams at locations in Joliet, Shorewood and Morris.

All participants will receive an NFL jersey and flag belt. Mouthguards are required and gloves are recommended. Rubber cleats are recommended, but gym shoes are also allowed. Metal cleats are not allowed. Participants are asked to wear pants/shorts that do not have pockets while competing in games.

MORRIS HOSPITAL YMCA

Fall 2026 League Dates: August 17-October 24

Coed Divisions:
Ages 4-6
Ages 7-9
Ages 10-12
Ages 13-14

Practices will be held at the Morris Hospital YMCA once a week on weeknights beginning the week of August 17.

Games will be played at the Morris Hospital YMCA primarily on Saturday mornings but teams may have occasional weeknight games. Games begin the weekend of September 12. All teams will play at least 8 games.

PLEASE NOTE: The 10-12 and 13-14 year old divisions will also play games against Joliet Community YMCA, Village of Shorewood YMCA, and C.W. Avery Family YMCA teams at locations in Joliet, Shorewood and Plainfield.

PLEASE NOTE: The 10-12 and 13-14 year old divisions will also play games against C.W. Avery Family YMCA, Joliet Community YMCA, and Morris Hospital YMCA teams at locations in Plainfield, Joliet, and Morris.
