Programs with a Purpose
Our Youth Sports programs maximize the positive effects of athletics by emphasizing healthy competition and promoting teamwork. The Y focuses on the life lessons that can be learned from sports, and our coaches strive to instill a positive self-image in each player.
Each fall youths ranging from preschool to sixth grade participate in the C.W. Avery Family YMCA’s non-competitive youth football league. Everyone plays and everyone has fun!
Players will learn the fundamentals of flag football through weekly practices and games. Practices begin in mid-August. Games will be played on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings starting on September 6. Facility and community members from all Greater Joliet Area YMCA branches are eligible to participate. All players receive a team t-shirt and socks. Anyone signed up after August 4 will not be guaranteed a uniform by the first game.
