This year marks the tenth anniversary of the C.W. Avery Family YMCA! On February 4, 2006, the Y officially opened its doors to the Plainfield community. The rest is history.

The Morris Community YMCA’s Power Center is the new home for all of your strength training needs! Located on our lower level, this space features brand-new state-of-the-art equipment that will help you conquer and achieve your fitness goals in 2016 and beyond. With the addition of more free weights, a functional trainer and a weighted cable unit, the Power Center will provide our members with better opportunities for interval training and additional small group exercise classes.
Functional Trainer Cable Unit: Great for general strength training and muscular endurance, this unit’s dual weight stacks provide fully independent motion and asymmetrical loads for single users; or they can serve as individual stations, so two people can work out at once.
SYNRGY360: This groundbreaking machine includes kettle bells, slam balls, battle ropes, resistance bands, a pull-up bar, a dip bar, a step-up platform and more. Set to be the focal point of SYNRGY360 Boot Camp, this machine will also benefit those in Sports Specific Performance Training, small group training and functional training.
SPARC Trainer: SPARC’s intuitive “get on and go” design invites all users to simply choose incline and intensity levels, then reach their fitness goals in record time. Set to be used for HIIT Training, small group training and Sport Specific Performance Training, this machine will help you lose fat, build muscle and gain strength.
Power Cage: A prime location to perform free weight exercises like squats and deadlifts, the Power Cage will be utilized heavily for Sport Specific Performance Training and small group training.
Free Weight Barbell Rack: Holds between 20 and 100 pounds of pre-selected barbells.
(6) TRX Suspension Trainers: This all-in-one, total-body workout system will be used for our TRX Suspension & Ropes class, which will be held on Thursday evenings starting in 2016.

The Joliet YMCA Jets Swim Team is a year-round youth swim team that promotes the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Swimmers ages six to 18 come not only from Joliet but surrounding communities like Plainfield, New Lenox, Morris and Ottawa to improve their competitive swimming skills, develop confidence and leadership abilities, and to make lifelong friendships.
Each season, our families fundraise to help underwrite expenses associated with the team, travel and our swim meets. Through our unique sponsorship opportunities, your company will be able to choose a level of involvement that will meet your business needs and budget considerations, and generate goodwill by directly impacting our hard-working young athletes.
The Greater Joliet Area YMCA has been awarded a 2015 Top Workplaces honor by the Chicago Tribune. A first time Top 100 Workplace honoree, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA has been serving families in Will, Grundy and Kendall Counties for more than 85 years.

Several aspects of workplace culture were measured, including Alignment, Execution, and Connection, just to name a few.

The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits, strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. A 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA has 400 full and part-time staff who work at four locations in Will and Grundy Counties.
Driven by its mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all, the Y brings families closer together, encourages good health, and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests.
But, most importantly, its doors are open to everyone, regardless of age, income or background. At the Y, no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay.
