Attend a Fall Swim Clinic at the Smith Family YMCA

    August 28-31 | 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Our swim clinics provide swimmers with the opportunity to spend time with our coaches to learn new drills, improve their swimming skills and meet members of the JETS family. Throughout the clinic, our swim coaches will be evaluating each swimmer to determine which team placement level is appropriate based on individual skill level.

For those who aren’t quite ready for competitive team swimming, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA offers swim lessons and other pre-competitive programs to meet the needs of every child.

Do I have to be a YMCA member?
Swimmers do not need a YMCA membership to participate in our swim clinics. However, swimmers must be Facility Members at the Greater Joliet YMCA in order to register for the JETS swim team. You can register online, by calling (815) 729-9622 or by stopping in at your local branch today!

  • Summer Spruce Up

Each summer, we take time to thoroughly clean and enhance our facilities so that our members can have an enjoyable experience throughout the year. During this time, certain areas of our facilities will be temporarily closed.

During Summer Spruce Up, our members are welcome to use any of our four facilities. When visiting any branch during Summer Spruce Up, please remember to bring your Membership Card. We very much appreciate your continued patience as we work to spruce up your Y!

  • New Swim Lesson Curriculum Debuting This Fall

This fall, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA will be introducing a fresh, new swim lesson curriculum, designed to enhance its tradition of keeping the community safe and secure around the water and instilling a healthy lifestyle.

Created by the YMCA of the USA and tested extensively by Y’s across the nation, this new curriculum accommodates varying abilities to help foster a sense of achievement as swimmers progress between clearly defined stages.

Through this approach, advanced swimmers flow more easily to higher levels while swimmers who need more instruction can learn at their own pace. This approach results in more confident swimmers and a newfound admiration for swimming that can last a lifetime.
