Per updated guidance from the state of Illinois, masks or face coverings will no longer be required when visiting YMCA facilities and offsite program locations.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
We are so glad to welcome children to the YMCA's Kid Zone program for the 2021-22 school year! Our before and after school care team has spent countless hours planning and preparing for the school year to begin, and we are so excited to welcome new students to the YMCA.
Although this school year will look a little different, we remain dedicated to providing all students and their families with a healthy and safe experience, full of fun and wonderful memories. Please take a few minutes to review our updated health and safety guidelines below, which provide an overview of what families can expect at Kid Zone this year.

HOW WE ARE KEEPING OUR YMCA COMMUNITY SAFE
A list of frequently asked questions can be found below to provide families with details on how the YMCA will be working to keep students and staff healthy and safe this school year. Additional information can also be found in our Kid Zone Parent Manual below.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What are the drop-off and pick-up procedures for Kid Zone?
A: When dropping off or picking up your child(ren) at Kid Zone, please look for the colorful magnet or sign that says ‘Kid Zone Entrance.’ At most school sites, the Kid Zone entrance can be found near the gymnasium doors.
Please enter the building through the Kid Zone entrance, while wearing a mask or face covering, to sign-in or sign-out your child(ren).
Please note:
- Kid Zone participants must be signed-in and out by a parent/guardian or an individual, ages 16 and older, who is listed on the student’s Authorized Pick-Up List. You can make changes to your child’s Authorized Pick-Up List by logging into your YMCA membership account.
- Parents/guardians will be asked to show a PICTURE ID when picking up their child(ren) each day. To avoid delays, please have your ID ready when picking up your student.
Q: Will I be required to complete a daily health screening for my child upon arriving at Kid Zone?
A: At this time, daily health screenings will not be required for children in the YMCA’s Kid Zone program. If we receive new guidance from the state of Illinois, we will communicate with all Kid Zone families in a timely manner.
For the safety and well-being of our Kid Zone community, we kindly ask that your child refrain from attending Kid Zone if they are feeling unwell or can answer ‘Yes’ to any of the following questions on a given day:
- Have you or anyone in your household traveled to another country in the last 14 days?
- Have you been in contact with someone under investigation for, or with a confirmed case of, COVID-19 in the last 14 days?
- Have you or a family member in your household been instructed to self-quarantine?
- In the last 3 days, have you experienced a fever of 100.4 or higher?
- Are you currently experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19?
Q: Will my child have to wear a mask or face covering while attending the Kid Zone program?
A:

Q: What will happen if my child gets sick while at Kid Zone?
A: If a child becomes ill or has a temperature of 100.4 or higher while attending the Kid Zone program, they will be separated from their group and their parent/guardian will be contacted to pick them up immediately.
A child that has been sent home can return to Kid Zone when:
- At least ten (10) days have passed since the symptoms first began AND
- He or she has had no fever for at least 24 hours without taking medication to reduce his/her fever during that time; AND
- Other COVID-19 symptoms are improving*
*Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation for a student.
A child may return to Kid Zone earlier if a doctor confirms the cause of his/her fever or other symptoms is not COVID-19 and releases him/her to return to Kid Zone in writing with a specified date of return. A child who experiences a fever and/or respiratory symptoms while home should not return to Kid Zone.
Q: If I have questions regarding Kid Zone, who can I contact?
A:If you have any questions or concerns this school year, please don’t hesitate to reach out to member of our before and after school care leadership team. We are here to support families and want to make sure that everyone has a wonderful school year in the Y’s Kid Zone program.
