Will County Board in Partnership with Waste Management Donates $15,000 to Smith Family YMCA

On Thursday, June 20, the Will County Board in partnership with Waste Management presented the Smith Family YMCA with a check for $15,000 to help fund a new playground at the Y’s Briggs Street location. Will County Board Speaker Denise Winfrey and Waste Management’s Director of Disposal Operations Dale Hoekstra were on-hand at last week’s County Board Meeting to present this generous gift to YMCA staff. The Y plans to use this donation to refurbish playground equipment that was kindly gifted to the Smith Family YMCA by Laraway Elementary School.

This new outdoor space at the Smith Family YMCA will provide an exciting play space for area children and summer day camp participants for years to come. The Smith Family YMCA is excited to share this new outdoor space with the Joliet community and plans to host a formal ribbon cutting ceremony later this summer.
