Expansion Headquarters

Phase 1: Completed

Construction on the new parking lot at the C.W. Avery Family YMCA was completed on Sunday, October 1. Adding 144 additional spaces, the lot opened to members on the morning of Monday, October 2.

Temporary lighting structures will be installed in the new section of the parking lot. Permanent lighting will be installed later this fall.

Phase 2: Now Underway

Phase 2 of our expansion project, which includes the expansion of the Wellness Center, is now underway. In addition to significantly increasing the square-footage of the Wellness Center, the Y will be adding new group exercise space and increasing the number of cardio and strength machines available to members. This new space will provide health seekers with limitless opportunities to train smarter and more effectively. Preparations for construction began on Sunday, October 1. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2018.

  • October 1-2: Construction fencing was installed around the perimeter of the Y, causing portions of the old parking lot to close. A temporary walkway has been installed and clearly marked to ensure members can easily access the building.
  • October 5: More than 100 people, including our partners from Presence Health, community leaders and YMCA staff, volunteers and members, joined us as we broke ground for our Wellness Center renovation and expansion.
  • November 7: Due to expansion-related maintenance, the Y’s water will be shut off between 6 and 9 a.m. During this time, toilets, showers, sinks and water fountains will not be serviceable. Please plan accordingly! We apologize for the inconvenience.
  • November 16: In anticipation of construction beginning inside the Wellness Center, a portion of the Y’s strength and cardio equipment will be temporarily removed. The Wellness Center will remain open during construction. We appreciate your continued patience and apologize for the inconvenience.

At this time, parking is limited near the front entrance of the building. We kindly request that members save spots closer to the entrance for those who need it most, including seniors, families with small children and those who need special assistance. Tip: Park in our new lot! Trade convenience for calorie-burning by parking your car further away from our entrance than you normally would.
