Leaders In Training Program

itslitAvailable in Plainfield and Joliet

Our Leaders In Training (LIT) program is specifically designed with teens in mind. The goal of this fun and exciting program is to help local youth develop and learn leadership skills by gaining real life experience as a part of YMCA Summer Day Camp.

In order to participate in this program, prospective participants must submit:

  • A volunteer application
  • A camp application
  • Two letters of recommendation (e.g. from a teacher, coach or pastor)

After submitting the aforementioned items, it will be the prospective LIT’s responsibility to arrange an interview with the Y’s Youth and Family Team. During the interview, volunteer opportunities and responsibilities will be discussed. If chosen to be a part of the LIT program, LITs will be assigned a group of campers and assist camp counselors with day-to-day activities.

Grades: 9-12

Camp Hours: 9-4:30 p.m. (Extended Care is available)
