Greater Joliet Area Family YMCA
Capital Campaigns

Last Update: April 26, 2007

Meeting today's needs requires vision and flexibility. We must be able to evaluate trends, develop innovative programs, and assure top quality facilities. As our community grows, so must our YMCA. You can help by supporting our capital campaigns which allow our association to build and renovate the facilities as needed in order to continue meeting the needs of the kids and families in our communities.

C.W. Avery Family YMCA
Phase II of the Avery facility campaign will provide funds needed to build a family activity pool. Amenities expected include: zero-depth entry, interactive play features, a current channel, open tube water slide, kiddie slide, tot-pool, water vortex, raining buckets, and spray grounds. The new family natatorium will not only provide a unique family entertainment venue at the C.W. Avery Family YMCA, it will also be equipped with two warm water therapeutic lap lanes with hydraulic lifts. The estimated cost of the Family Fun Pool is $3.5 Million. Thanks to a very generous naming donation of $1.5 million the family pool will be named the cliff and lois family aquatic center. The YMCA is currently in need of $800,000 in order to meet our goal.

Joliet Facility Renovations
The Galowich Family YMCA and the Smith Family YMCA are full service facilities located in Joliet, each equipped with a gymnasium, swimming pool, fitness center and racquetball courts. These branches were built in 1978 and are in need of significant renovations. Proposed improvements include new roofs, tiling of pools basins, expanding multi-purpose space for programs, updating wellness equipment, new lighting, improved locker rooms and HVAC. The cost of the renovations for both Joliet facilities is projected at $4-5 Million.
